After the Sony E3 2018 showcase concluded, From Software revealed a new title called ‘Deracine’ for PlayStation VR. The game will release exclusively on PSVR sometime this year.
An overview of the game from Sony Japan Studio producer Masaaki Yamagiwa, via PlayStation Blog
Deracine is an all new adventure game that brings Japan Studio, From Software and director Hidetaka Miyazaki together for the first time since Bloodborne. The story unfolds in a secluded boarding school where six children quietly spend their days. It is into this environment that you appear, an unseen faerie existing in a world of frozen time. As the story progresses, time shifts around you, at times even throwing you into the past.
Our goal as we develop this title is to use the latest in VR technology to create a traditional adventure game or visual novel where the user explores a quiet world teeming with mysteries.
Deracine’s most important element is the bond between the player, an unseen faerie, and the children of the boarding school. This is shown using fragmented storytelling, where the user pieces events together from scattered story elements, and a setting where time is frozen. All of this comes together in a compelling, emotional narrative.
I also have a special message from Miyazaki himself:
“This title got its start when I asked myself whether I could recreate the classic adventure game with its relaxed pace in virtual reality, giving users an entirely unique experience. SIE was interested, and I am very grateful to have them as a partner as we develop this game together.
“The result is that the concept behind the title has changed little since those initial thoughts, and Déraciné has a warm, peculiar feel to it that is completely different from anything we have done before. I’d love for as many users as possible to give it a try.”

Rhythm game Beat Saber is coming to PlayStation VR, confirmed in Sony’s fifth and last Countdown to E3.
Beat Saber has previously released on Steam on May 1, 2018. No release date was given for Beat Saber.
Overview via PlayStation Blog
Beat Saber is an action rhythm game like no other. Wield your PS Move controllers to slash and cut coloured cubes as they travel towards you, synchronised to a pulsing electronica beat. Each cube has an arrow indicating which angle you need to attack it, with every successful strike generating a unique sound that builds into that level’s track.
The sense of satisfaction – getting immersed in the track’s flow, feeling the rhythm in every fibre of your body, landing perfect attack after perfect attack – is unparallelled. It’s an astonishing, addictive experience.
Each level is paired with original music, created exclusively for Beat Saber by Los Angeles-based composer Jaroslav Beck.
The fourth day of Sony’s countdown to their E3 2018 showcase has kicked off and the announcement for the new game coming to PSVR has arrived. Developer Zoink has revealed Ghost Giant will be releasing exclusively on PlayStation VR.
An overview of the game via PlayStation blog.
In Ghost Giant, you meet young Louis. He lives in an out-of-the-way part of town, where he tends to the family sunflower farm together with his mother. Life isn’t always that easy though, and Louis is incredibly lonely. That is, until you enter his life.
As the player you take on the role of the Ghost Giant. And a giant you are indeed! Use your see-through hands to lift furniture, vehicles and trees. You can even rotate and open entire buildings to reveal the stories going on inside. The picturesque town of Sancourt becomes your own little dollhouse sandbox.
Being a giant is a big advantage when building your friendship with Louis. Along your journey, you help him with all manner of challenges that, at first glance, seem impossible to pull off. While they often involve heavy lifting, your most important role is less physical. It’s that of being a supporting friend for a child in need of some guidance.
Today is the first day of Sony’s countdown until the start of E3 2018. Starting today, Sony plans to announce new games almost every day and a release date for a Sony Worldwide Studios title.
The first game to be revealed for the countdown to E3 2018 is Tetris EFFECT, coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR. It seems to follow the normal gameplay of the classic Tetris, but it adds a new neon effect and is more colorful. The game is currently planned for a Fall 2018 release.
Named after a real-world phenomenon where players’ brains are so engrossed that images of the iconic falling Tetrimino blocks (i.e. the Tetris playing pieces) linger in their vision, thoughts, and even dreams, TETRIS® EFFECT amplifies this magical feeling of total immersion by surrounding you with fantastic, fully three-dimensional worlds that react and evolve based on how you play. Music, backgrounds, sounds, special effects—everything, down to the Tetris pieces themselves, pulse, dance, shimmer, and explode in perfect sync with how you’re playing.
From deep beneath the ocean to the furthest reaches of outer space and everywhere between, TETRIS® EFFECT’s 30-plus stages take players on a wondrous, emotional journey through the universe. The core of the game is still Tetris—one of the most popular puzzle games of all time—but like you’ve never seen it, or heard it, or felt it before.
