NieR Automata Devs Interested In the Possibility of a Nintendo Switch version

In the video message that aired during Square Enix Presents, Yoko Taro, Yosuke Saito and Takahisa Taura talked about how they would like to come to E3 again and experience it without working too much, and also thank fans who helped the game reach a total shipment and digital sales of three million worldwide. This week Square Enix and Platinum Games announced NieR Automata ‘Become as Gods’ Edition for Xbox One.

Towards the end, Yoko Taro possibly joked about demanding a Nintendo Switch version. Saito explained that decision is up to PlatinumGames cause they will need time to develop it. If it does happen, Saito said it could take up to 2 years to see it. They continued to shout each other’s Twitter to basically tweet them asking for the game to come to Switch.

A full transcript of that section of the video message.

Yoko Taro: Well, um, when are we getting the Switch version Saito-san?

Yosuke Saito: Well, it’s not all on me to decide because PlatinumGames do take painstaking time to develop for each console.

Takahisa Taura: Well, I don’t think it’s a good idea to ask me about something as big as this.

Yoko Taro: I want a Switch version, Taura-san! Give it to me!

Takahisa Taru: Well, I’d like to have one too if it’s about what we want.

Yosuke Saito: Well, Taura-kun’s Twitter account is shown on the screen here and if everyone asks him for it, then there may be a possibility that it would become a reality. But even if it does, it might be about two years from now again. See we keep our jobs alive by releasing a little by little.

Takahisa Taru: Yes, we try to stretch it out as much as possible.

Yoko Taro : And this Twitter account is for asking for new girlfriends too right?

Takahisa Taura: Well, yes, but please contact Saito-san about Switch and not me.
