Sony has announced that players will be able to change their PlayStation Network ID’s in early 2019. The company is currently looking for people who are interested in participating in their preview program that is happening around November 2018.

The first name change will be completely free of charge, then it will cost a normal fee off $9.99 USD/CAD if you happened to want to change it again later down the line. For PS Plus subscribers, the name changes will be at a discounted price of $4.99 USD/CAD. When the features rolls out, you can go to the either settings menu or profile page on PS4 to change it there.

The option to display both your previous ID and the new selected ID, will be featured on screen for your people on your friends list to recognize it. While the feature to display your new PlayStation name will be supported by most games released after April 1, 2018, and a list of titles before that, Sony notes that some PS4, PS3 and PS Vita games or applications, may not be compatible.
